At being told to stay put instead of being allowed to come back down with Zernebog, Trick peeked back out of the well with a cry of rebellion. Stay here? But his human was hurt down there! He should go with and help make sure she's okay, of course! His arguments fell on deaf ears though as Zernebog would vanish without further instruction to the Treecko or Torchic. Bewildered by the vanishing act, the Treecko crawled slightly out of the well, only to take notice to a flash of light below. Turning slightly to glance down and see Zernebog appear once more now down below. The wood gecko furrowed it's brow at the worrying sight, but with no calls for help or signs of issue from Zernebog, Trick could only assume he had a plan for how to get out properly.
Crawling out of the well, Trick moved instead to help Ra back up from his surprised fall.
As a flash of light suddenly manifested beside her, Ricki wasn't really sure what to do at first. She braced herself against the wall, ready to force herself to take off should the light prove to be some angry wild pokemon. When it faded though, she was surprised to see a person standing before her now. They knelt down to her level, and she spotted the Pokemon cradled in their arms. Okay, that made more sense. She didn't relax quite yet though, eyes resting on this person warily before her eyes settled on a fairly familiar worried gaze. It caught her by surprise, but she couldn't see well enough at the moment to be able to put a name to this man's face. Though as he knelt down in front of her, she could see he over all was very familiar. Right up until he spoke. The deep voice was almost jarring, like she hadn't expected him to sound like that at all... Which was the case, honestly. She wasn't sure what she expected, though.
"Yeah, yeah" she dismissively answered his worried questions. Setting her hand on the wall beside her and gritting her teeth, she started to force herself back up despite the fact she was visibly pained by the act. "I'm fine, I just had a uh... Minor slip earlier" she sighed, smiling reassuringly at this stranger - or not - that'd come to help her. "Take it you're my ticket back out of here?" she jokingly asked, trying to stand upright. She visibly grimaced at that though, and leaned more heavily against the well wall. That fall was not as easy on her as she had hoped. It didn't help that she was also pretty cold from an earlier dive for a pokeball, so now that Zernebog was down here, it wasn't hard to notice her shivering.
The Treecko's puppy dog eyes turned into confusion, and then curiosity at Zernebog's response. This person knew his name? Trick crawled up a bit to sit on the edge of the well, before he glanced over towards Ra once more. Well, if that was Ra, and this person knew him, than this person had to be Zernebog. There was no other way for this combination to be possible. Although, the last time Trick saw that human, Zernebog was notably shorter, and his voice of a higher pitch.
He must have evolved a lot while they were separated.
Regardless, his confused expression became one of joy when it became clear that this was Zernebog. Eyes turned back to the young man, and the Treecko hopped up to his feet - holding himself back from tackling Zernebog in excitement at seeing this trainer, again. With an eager nod to confirm this Pokemon was indeed Trick, there then then remained the question of who was in the well. The Treecko scratched the side of his cheek quietly and turned to glance down at his human down below. With another more sheepish nod, Treecko looked over at Zernebog with a frown. A fraction of those puppy dog eyes came back, hoping Zernebog would be able to help here because it was indeed Ricki stuck at the bottom of the well.
Trick moved slightly to peer down at her, seeing Ricki had slumped to rest her side against the wall of the well. Her eyes met the Treecko's with the utmost curiosity, but there was only so much expressions and gestures could convey. They weren't capable of sign language, so Ricki was a bit baffled as to who it was that Trick had managed to grab to help her. The echoes of the other trainer's deeper voice bounced off the walls pretty easily, turning his words into incoherent nonsense once they reached her ears. It was nothing too bothersome for now. The closer he got to the well and more properly he directly faced her, the easier it'd be fore him to understand. She could see Treecko staring at her for some reason though and she simply brought up her hand to wave at him slightly.
Only to have to stop when her shoulder was overwhelmed with pain. Clutching her hand back to her chest, she took a slow deep breath and tilted her head down as she fought back an urge to cry out at that pain. Taking a deep breath and just focusing on her breathing seemed to be helping a lot.
Oh thank Arceus, the trainer spotted him. Trick calmed his attention grabbing antics as the traveler clearly began to approach him, and waited anxiously for the white haired man to close the distance. The Treecko didn't take notice of the Torchic quite yet, instead focusing on the human speaking to him. Turning slightly to look down in the well, he looked back at Zernebog before pointing at the small shape of Ricki at the bottom of the drop. Chirping a few times as if trying to explain, Trick paused, moved around to where the ladder was and patted it to bring it to Zernebog's attention.
It was a game of charades. Pointing out the ladder and then bringing up his hands to move them like he was snapping a stick to explain the ladder was broke. The Treecko pointed down once more at Ricki at the bottom, before his eyes finally traveled down to the two Pokemon currently accompanying Zernebog. When large golden eyes met small beady blacks, there was a significant pause of surprise. The Treecko almost got distracted enough to try and speak directly to the Torchic, but right now wasn't exactly ideal.
"Is someone there, Trick?!" Ricki called out from down below once more. The Treecko leaned over onto all fours to crawl down a little so Ricki could see him nodding. "Hallelujah" she sighed softly, before starting to try and get up. It hurt though, it hurt a lot, but she forced herself up regardless and stumbled to slump against the wall. Seeing her stumble around, the Treecko turned to crawl back up and give his best pair of puppy dog eyes to Zernebog that he could manage in a silent plea for help in saving his trainer from the old well. These pair of puppy dog eyes likely familiar because they were usually used in tandem with Ricki when she really wanted something.
Okay so... The ladder was broken, but no need to panic, right? Right. She could just climb up the stone wall right? Like, rock climbing. She'd done that before, although granted it was on artificial walls at some fair with a lot of proper safety measures and colorful rocks that clearly indicated 'GRAB HERE'. So, this was going to be new. New and probably really dumb. But, what was life without a little risk here or there, right? Besides, she just had to somehow make it up to the part of the ladder that still remained in one piece just like twenty feet up, so this shouldn't be a problem!
Trick was off her shoulders already, climbing up to the remains of the ladder to sit and wait for his trainer to catch up. She shot him a flat look, annoyed by how he made climbing look so easy while for the time being, she found her self assigned task to be a little daunting in all honesty. Despite hyping herself up, she was unfortunately quite aware of the fact this was dumb, but what else could she do? None of her contacts were even in this region, man. She could call a ranger or the police, but was the number for that the same as the number for it in her own region? Plus, this was a silly thing to get the authorities all worked up over.
She could do this, for sure!
With that last convincing chant in her mind, Ricki began her attempts to scale the wall. Unfortunately, as she began, she came to the terrifying discovery that the walls of the well were soaked from the humid atmosphere down here. Despite some of the rougher surfaces, her hands still slid off again and again. She fell and flopped before even getting to potentially dangerous levels of height as nothing could get a grip. Gloves helped a little, but as she got about half way up, again she slipped and this time the landing was not as kind. The wind was knocked out of her and she scrambled to catch her breath for a moment, before finally she sucked in a deep breath. With a pain filled breathless cry following her loud gasp, Ricki sat up and rubbed her back with a hiss of pain. Scratched up, filthy, and just down right sore, her patience was really wearing thin.
During her struggle to catch her breath, Trick had dropped back down to come to her aid. He leaned in with a worried gaze, checking to see if she was okay, before Ricki just gave him an exasperated but reassuring look. "I'm fine, just a bruised back and pride" she assured, reaching up to scratch his head before trying to get up. However, the movement was met with a wave of pain throughout her body and so she just dropped back to settle for sitting on the well's soaked ground. With a quiet curse under her breath, she pulled out her phone finally to cave and try the authoriti--
No service.
"Of fucking course" she grumbled, before looking over at Trick. His eyes rested on her with a continued worried look, but he was forced to finally relent when she playfully flicked his forehead. "I'm fine, Trick, it's okay" she assured, before pointing up to the opening above her. "Do me a favor, though. Climb up top and try to flag someone down with your best Lassie impression, eh?" she prompted. The Treecko wasn't exactly fond of the idea of leaving his trainer by herself, but after a few moments, he relented. Getting up and scrambling up the well wall, the wood gecko easily made his way up to the top of the well with no issue. He settled himself down on the well's wall, glancing up at the cloudy skies worriedly, before scanning the surrounding area for someone - anyone really - to help with the situation at hand.
It was surprisingly quiet in this area though, likely as a result of the incoming storm Treecko could see, but after nearly half an hour of looking around and waiting, finally he spotted someone coming their way. Hopping up to his feet, Trick began to wave his arms with a loud cry to try and get the passerby's attention. From inside the well, Ricki's voice echoed upwards "You finally see someone?!"
what happened to the girl who could overlook the world? she never gave a second thought to what the other people thought. what happened to the dream of rejecting the routine?
'cause they never worked for me.
ANTHEM //
a rebellious teenager on the run from her home in hoenn, ricki isn't by any means one to hesitate to go for what she wants. a spit fire with the passion to go far, she's optimistic and upbeat, eager to make friends and meet new people. although running away seems to be a bad habit of her's as it becomes clear home isn't the only thing she ran away from.
THE BROS //
if one can put up with ricki's teasing and tauntings, it's not too hard to be friend her. she's always up for a good time and going on all sorts of crazy adventures - especially since she isn't the type to really think anything through. a habit that bites her in the butt quite often, resulting in her having various friends that tend to have to be her voice of reason as to why that is an awful idea. adventures are guaranteed with her though, as she's determined to make every day count and try to take a new approach to the same old routine of the day to day madness. life's too short right?
once friendship is made with this lovely lass though, don't be surprised by the lengths she'd go to in order to protect her friends. while emotional issues are hard for her to comprehend and deal with, she's the first in line to punch a bitch in the face if they mess with her friends at least? she means well in what she does, even if her brutish nature can cause trouble here or there. at her core, ricki is a kind hearted soul who treasures the people around her a lot more than it may seem.
THE FOES //
more stubborn than a tauros and fixated on her moral code, ricki does not have the time nor the desire to question what she believes is right or wrong. she has a set idea on how things should work and gets quite miffed when her status quo is thrown through a loop. what's probably not very surprising is that this often leads to her butting heads with authority on a regular basis. she is not the type to respect people based off of titles, badges, wealth, or anything of that sort. she will call out even a champion trainer on their bullshit when she sees it and this can cause a lot of trouble for the young woman. she judges people based off of what she sees of them first hand and not so much their reputation, so doing something that crosses her could result in a lasting disdain for sure.
then tack on just the fact ricki's competitive and teasing antics and people with short tempers would be quick to get frustrated with this child getting all up in their grill. she loves pushing buttons and isn't above some trash talking during battles to throw off the other team.
THE HOES //
now here's some touchy territory for the young woman. she's loved before, and she doesn't really want to talk about it. right now, flings, flirts, anything not serious is all fair game. any kind of distraction from what she ditched back in hoenn is greatly welcomed, to be honest. her end game love interest has already been decided, but at the moment, ricki is single and doesn't mind playing around until it's time to put on her big girl pants and get her shit together.

After Ricki's advice to get a goatee, the Treecko on the ceiling relinquished his make-shift all natural wig and dropped down to land on her shoulder. Making her stumble briefly, and with a loud surprised grunt, Ricki scoffed lightly and poked the Pokemon's cheek. "I'm gonna make you walk if you don't go a little easier on me" she softly warned, the Treecko merely making an apologetic chirp. Trick followed the chirp with leaning over to nuzzle his head against Ricki's cheek with another coo, and Ricki couldn't help but relent at that point. Sighing and reaching up to scratch the Wood Gecko Pokemon affectionately, her gaze trailed back ahead to the dark tunnels.
"It's just a singular long tunnel, right?" she whispered to her Treecko, who only shrugged. She pouted in response, but should've figured that in hindsight. Why would the Treecko from Hoenn know anything about some random well in Johto? The two fell silent at that point as they walked, only for Ricki to slow her walk when she reached what she assumed to be what little water remained in the well... Or well...
That was a lot of water, actually. Eyeing the surface, her headlamp's lights were surprisingly helpful with how crystal clear the waters were. She was pretty amazed, right up to the point of spotting a Pokemon looking back at her just as curiously. It sprung to the surface and to Ricki's surprise, it wasn't the typical kind of cave dweller. Or she assumed so. After spotting the Pokemon, she reached into her side pocket, looking away briefly to get out her PokeDex. When she peered back up, flicking open the dex, she was surprised to find the Horsea had... vanished? Shoot. Her lips fell into a flat line as she slowly skimmed the waters until feeling the weight on her shoulder decrease.
Glancing to where Trick had once settled on her shoulder, she saw the Treecko vanish again into the darkness, but the light from her goggles reflected back from his eyes. He scrambled up to the ceiling, again, and the two played a rousing game of I Spy. Ricki made her way up to the edge of the water, walking along the shore line for a few moments, before catching sight of a blue blur zipping past her. She stopped and it rushed past her, again. Her Treecko was quick on the Pokemon's tail, and Ricki found herself unable to do much of anything for the moment aside from watch.
Minutes of the two Pokemon racing around the area ticked by, before the Pokemon she had spotted in the water came to a stop in front of her again. It seemed to look up at her with an annoyed pout, causing Ricki to be confused. Even more so when she saw how the Pokemon seemed to be shaking a bit, like it was... Cold? But she didn't waste the brief pause and quickly pointed her PokeDex at it.
Horsea eats small insects and moss off of rocks. If the ocean current turns fast, this Pokémon anchors itself by wrapping its tail around rocks or coral to prevent being washed away. It makes its nest in the shade of corals. If Horsea senses danger, it will reflexively spray a dense black ink from its mouth and try to escape. This Pokémon swims by cleverly flapping the fins on its back. By cleverly flicking the fins on its back side to side, it moves in any direction while facing forward. It maintains balance using its tail, which is wound up like a coil. Its big, developed fins move rapidly, allowing it to swim backward while still facing forward.
"Ooooh" Ricki softly cooed to herself, before looking back up to see the Horsea had gone from pouting to glaring at her. Blinking in surprise, she held up her hands and took a step back, only to get a a cloud of Smokescreen shot at her face. Coughing and waving her arm to fan away the smoke, the young trainer was baffled by the Horsea's anger towards her. Or maybe it was scared of her? She wasn't sure, but now she was just curious. "Trick!" she called out. "Batter up!"
With a firm chirp back, the Treecko dropped from the ceiling and landed this time on the ground beside his trainer. The Horsea looked to him immediately, and instantly shot the Treecko back with a furious Water Gun. When the Horsea stopped pumping out it's torrent of water though, it was alarmed to see the Treecko hadn't budged at all from the water's impact. In fact Trick shook himself like a dog to whip off the water like it was nothing. The Horsea looked baffled by the sight, only to get caught off guard by the Treecko's next course of action. Glowing green orbs suddenly manifested around the Treecko, and in the next moment the glowing orbs went flying at the Horsea with various super effective impacts. The orbs sank into the Horsea, sapping it's health like leeches, before leaving the Pokemon's body to fly back and sink back into the Treecko. The Horsea didn't stand a chance against the brutal Giga Drain, fainting soon after the orbs flew back to Trick.
By this point, Ricki managed to clear off her goggles of the ink that had been infused with the Smokescreen enough to see the Horsea passed out and slowly sinking into the water. Side glancing her Treecko, finding Trick to just be sitting back by this point like nothing had happened, she frowned slightly as it dawned on her that she had missed the entire encounter. "You never kid around with this shit, do ya?" she grumbled, before pulling out a pokeball. Her first catch, huh? With a deep breath, she chucked the ball out at the Horsea, watching the seahorse be turned into a red light that was absorbed into the pokeball the next moment. At first, she grinned with excitement when it seemed she had nailed the catch... Then she paused as she saw where the pokeball was.
"... Arceus damn it" she grumbled, starting to pull off her shoes and socks. She hadn't exactly planned on swimming, but now she didn't have a choice. "Trick. Stay" she curtly ordered, stepping towards the water. She looked back over at the Treecko... Or where the Treecko had been, only to find the devious son of a bitch had already raced off to investigate other things. This was going to be just one of those days, wasn't it?
"So, the gist of the plan is, we go in, we look around, we catch things, we climb back out, Trick. It's not that hard, buddy" Ricki explained as she made her way down the old rickety ladder. It was a bit surprising to see her willingly enter a dark and cramped space like this - after all she was rather claustrophobic - but after hearing how wide open the tunnels below were, she figured it wouldn't be too much of an issue. Which turned out to be true as her feet gently splashed down on the moist well's floor. Flicking her goggles up off her eyes to rest on her forehead and messily shove her bangs back, it dawned on her a moment later that this well was pretty dark in hindsight.
But this was modern times, y'know? Pulling the pair of goggles on her head back down over her eyes, she tapped a button on the side of the frames and a set of lights flicked on, illuminating the cave ahead of her. The Treecko perched on her shoulder didn't need the light of his trainer's special goggles to really see down here, but Trick could appreciate his trainer's convenient accessory. He climbed down from her shoulder, making his way onto the floor before vanishing into the darkness ahead as the exploration began.
It was something a little new for Ricki, though. Only recently running off from home to become a trainer - less from a desire to be one and more for it being a convenient excuse - she figured she might as well go all out with this path she picked up on. Especially when she caught wind of a certain white-haired dork she grew up near had started travelling around as a certified trainer, too. She'd certainly like to see what kind of team he was building, but for now she needed to focus on building up her own little unique squad. While sticking to hunting for Pokemon on the routes was the more conventional and probably better idea, Ricki figured that she wouldn't really find anything interesting if she went about looking for her Pokemon that way.
She was after Pokemon with a little, y'know... Character? Like the Treecko now on above her on the ceiling using some algae or moss as a make shift wig. Quirking a brow at her little friend, Ricki snorted in amusement and quietly remarked "Get yourself a goatee and I'm sure you'll get all the babes, Trick."
