Every time he spun around to see Penny and see what she was doing, he caught glimpses of what she was doing. The one tim she was tapping the pen against her lips and he caught himself staring for a wee bit too long, and once he realized he spun faster than the other and swallowed several times nervously, hoping that she was far too engrossed in her work to realize.
When she bumped him out of the way to see what he had found, he happily let the chair roll and spin away from the table, holding his chair with his hands to keep him steady while he smiled and sailed away.
"Alright then, lets go catch us a bad guy!" Leaping out from his chair, with his foot catching on the rounded rims at the bottom, he hopped his way out the door on one foot, excited for an arrest and to get out of that stuffy room. Penny was too distracted in the videos and it was too boring... too quiet. It gave him the heebie jeebies.
"You can write up the reports Commish~" he teased, remembering that she had mentioned wanting to become commissioner some day. "I'll go make supper~!" At this point he was marching his way down the halls. "Tomorrow is our day off isn't it? First weekend since we started, I won't know what to do with myself."
When Bruce came waddling over to beg for food, Flix was just about to drop a slice into the canine's mouth before Penny raised her voice - to which Flix obediently put it back down into the box. Frowning down to Bruce, he whispered "don't worry bro, I'll sneak you one later" and winked at the dog, hoping Penny would be none the wiser. The man had a soft spot for pokemon and just adored feeding them, ignoring that poke food was better for them rather than people food... he would feed them both.
He glared over to his screen that Penny pointed at, to which he was supposed to start looking at videos. pushing his tape in, he started the tedious work.
"Why do we get stuck with the boring work." He whined, chewing on his slice of pizza while leaning his head on his hand, watching the screen he had with half interest. Nothing... Nothing. and oh look! more nothing.
Every now and then he would whine and groan, look over to Penny with beckoning eyes as if he was some kind of twelve year old kid who just couldn't sit still in church. Only about a half hour into his work, he began spinning on his chair and only giving his work half of his attention. "Should we go to lunch after this? Or or or, maybe go to the museum, I hear they have a new fossil exhibit." To anyone who calls him a man, they have no idea that he truly is a child stuck in a grown ass man's body.
"Do you think the cafeteria lady hates me? She didn't put that many pepperonis on the pizza this time... I wonder if I did something. Maybe I should bring her flowers..." He just couldn't stop! It was then, in mid spin that he noticed something strange on the video...
He finally stopped talking and spinning and slowed the video's frames with the little finger spin thing to control the speed... In a bust of excitement he pointed at the screen and nearly flew off his chair. "THERE, A FACE!" He pointed at a sketchy looking guy who had stuffed his pockets with jewels.
Hearing what today;s job would be, Flix couldn't stop groaning. It was such boring work! Where was the arrests? The excitement? The battles and fights?! Instead they would sit in front of a screen and try to get faces and put them through the system to find out who they were. "UUUUGGHH" yet another groan echoed through the cafeteria while he stood in line to pay for his food.
One of his friends in the ranger base patted him on the shoulder and reassured him that it wouldn't be that bad, especially since he had "such a cute partner" he pointed out with a wink and a nudge. To which Flix shrugged off as normal "boyish" things to say between men.
Once he branched off from his friend, his arms full of snacks and food and things, he made his way toward the video observing room where Penny was certainly waiting for him patiently.
"I have arrived and I have brought happiness!" He nearly sang the words while awkwardly opening the door with barely a hand and sliding in, dropping all the goodies he had gotten onto the table. Some pizza, some sweets, cakes, peanuts, and even some coffee if they needed any.
"Go ahead, eat at your heart's content~" He said while diving toward a pizza slice and already getting his face dirty with bread, cheese, tomato sauce and toppings of happiness. "Anything found yet?" The words came out mid swallow, which stung a bit in his chest.
Well truth be told he had no intentions of forcefully cuddling the young woman in his sleep. He lacked his teddy and it was just a natural reaction to go ahead and wrap his arms around anything that was near by. Thankfully in this case it was a lovely young woman, and not the demon fire dog that probably would have ate his face if he had snuggled up to it in some kind of Ursaring hug.
The soft sound of rain hitting the tarp, the smell of fresh fallen rain on grass awakening the aromas of spring, the cool air and the warmth of the blanket and the company he had under them with him. it was enough to have him out for probably days if it continued like this - okay maybe some snack breaks in between naps, BUT for a long time none the less.
He didn't realize the little shock she had, the time he had woken up to notice what was going on, the sun had crept into his eye through the tent, and disturbed his slumber. In an attempt to hide himself from the sun, he hid his face into something... something soft. Something that smelled super good, like flowers; something that wasn't his bunny.
Fluttering his eye open to see the golden locks now blurring the sun, his face grew excited. She did some in to cuddle! He dug himself closer at this point, trying to be all silent and sneaky not to disturb her and for him to go back to sleep.
He will break her he will! She will accept his friendliness he thought while tightening his grasp on her just a little more, getting the feeling he just did not want to let go, ever.
She came rushing out and gathered his things, although it was kind of her, his main concern was to go in where it was dry now and get all warm and toasty again. With her invite to come on in, he shuffled into the tent as quickly as he could and once she had handed him some pyjamas, he was quick to start getting undressed, despite her turning around or not.
For someone who had done nothing with a girl in his years, he certainly wasn't shy when it came to him being in the nude around them.
He pulled the pants up, which made it look like he was ready for a flood how high they rose onto his legs; and kept himself shirtless. Still somewhat cold, and just yearning for a blanket to keep all his body heat to himself, there was no arguing when she invited him under the sheets. Nearly diving in head first, he pulled the sheets up over himself and got all snug within them.
They were warm already, being previously used. They smelled nice too, just like she did. It was soothing, and reminded him of a "bed time" smell. "Don't be shy if you wanna cuddle up~" Half asleep, he was already out. Once the warmth came over him, there was no staying up at this point and he probably won't be awake until later on that morning, if not at noonish.
Only some soft snoring came from him, otherwise, Flix was somewhat of a quiet sleeper; and a heavy one. Not a thought came across his mind that he was in bed with a girl, nothing other than that they were getting real close on their first mission which made him happy! They would certainly make an awesome team... and maybe more if he would put on his big boy pants.
Camping pasta, it was a first and it wasn't bad! It could have quite a few things added to it, like a sauce, some veggies and maybe even a meat perhaps, but he wasn't picky and Flix quickly wolfed that down too. They were camping after all, and gourmet or home cooked stuff was obviously not an option.
He was quietly admiring the stars slowly peeking out to welcome the night while laying on Kevin's belly as the Pokemon slept. His arms were crossed under his head - and a little sadness showed as Penny bid him a goodnight before shuffling off into her tent. He returned the goodnight and went back to stargazing... slowly, as the hours ticked on and the shooting stars flew by every now and then, the sound of distant bug pokemon chirping, he too was lulled to sleep.
Hours went on as Flix kept himself warm with Kevin's tail, Charizard slept as well while Flix snuggled the bunny in his arms. The first to wake up was Kevin when a drop of rain hit his nose. Lifting his head, he was obviously a little disturbed by this. In a moment, the dark clouds gathered above and a down pour woke the two of them right away.
of course Flix was worried about his pokemon partner first, throwing the blanket over the dragon's tail in a quick shelter while he grabbed the poke ball to return it; quickly gathering his things before running under the shelter Penny had built... He would certainly hear about this later.
he should have just put up a tent.
"Penny... Penny!" he was so cold already, and all wet. "I made a mistake! Please let me in..."
The mention of her making food was enough to drag him away from Kevin, to which the pseudo dragon snorted a puff of smoke in detest but still napped where he lay. "... enough for two?" he was nearly begging for her to share. He was a bottomless pitt after all, always hungry, always willing to eat no matter what. Perhaps it was because when he did move and work out, it was intense, only to finish by a big meal and then a nap or a long snooze... but none the less! Food was always a necessity.
he nearly hovered over her shoulder while she cooked.
"Well someday I will need to show you my awesome circus tricks, there is no denying that you aren't just a little curious as to what I can do." He cooed, mostly too proud of himself and the intoxicating smell of food cooking lulled him a bit.
"I will." Pursing his lips, he felt pretty certain about himself that it wasn't going to rain; but his laziness and desire to watch the stars while he lols himself to sleep were too strong for him to notice much else than a currently clear sky. while she got prepared, Flix just dragged his bag over to him and returned Aiden for now, and released his sleeping companion, Kevin the Charizard. With a grunt the thing curled himself around Flix while the red head kept rummaging through his stuff.
Soon enough he pulled out a small blanket (mostly used for comfort since Kevin was warm as hell already) and a medium sized pink stuffed rabbit. He wasn't ashamed of it at all, that a grown ass man slept with a teddy. he liked to cuddle as he slept.
He covered himself in the blanket (deciding not to strip down), and kept his bunny at his side while Kevin wrapped his tail around the ginger's body. he jolted from off of Kevin's belly at her accusation. "Of course I won't! What kind of man do you think I am." he held his head in a way that showed some kind of pride. "I will make it a mission to keep you entertained and fed!"
"Hmm that's a shame... I guess instead of singing I could do circus tricks around the fire instead." He mused out loud, since her dance moves sounded far more fancy than his, so doing tricks seemed like the better option.
"R-really? But that's when all the stars come out! Spooky stories too. But alright, I won't stop you." unlike penny, flix was a heavy sleeper and could probably sleep through a storm if he didn't get wet.
"It wouldn't suit you, lots of paper pushing. But I would definitely follow your orders though." He said between bites, in all honesty. He truly did think that although being a Commissioner was a huge deal, the head honcho of the Rangers - it was still a boring job in comparison to being out in the field, and that Commander was just the better of the two. Far more fun, and you still got to boss around every lower than you, just minus the one Commissioner really.
With the sausage hanging from his mouth, he watched her prepare the makeshift burner to prepare some pasta. He was quite intrigued. Despite his goofy personality and laid back attitude, he liked learning new things. Probably why he would prefer to read than to do work, paper work really. he wasn't learning anything that way, just spitting out information from a mission.
"That's pretty nifty." He pointed at it with a finger, glad that she had something like this on her rather than he making it. Because whipping out a sausage, or a steak or even a can ob beans and throwing that on the fire was far quicker than preparing noodles apparently. "I'm glad I was partnered with you!"
"It's not going to rain, setting up a tarp is a waste of time." He whined from where he sat, watching her get up to do more work. She was non-stop, only for a moment maybe, but then she was at it again with something!
"Really? That's a shame... I mean, I never did anything so I can't complain! At least I dont need to explain myself and fear someone back home~" An angry boyfriend accusing him of touching their "girl" made him feel sweaty again, at least that was one worry he didn't need to deal with. Plus, that meant he can as cute as he wanted to around her!
"I guess so. Now can we relax? The stars will be out soon! So you sing at all? I know some songs but I'm not too good to be honest." Who doesn't like some good old campfire songs?
Flix isn't freakishly tall or short neither, he is a little above average standing at around 6 foot 1, and weighing 182 lbs. although his height isn't all that impressive, his flaming red hair and eye patch will certainly catch some attention. he has emerald green eyes, however his right eye is always covered by an eye patch, to which he has never revealed to anyone and has no intention to.
Charizard flies around the sky in search of powerful opponents. It breathes fire of such great heat that it melts anything. However, it never turns its fiery breath on any opponent weaker than itself.

She smiled at his blunders and that gave him all kinds of butterflies in his belly. It pleased him more than people knew to see them having a good time, or happy in general. Perhaps that makes him a simpleton; food, sleep, and seeing others happy is what makes him smile, but even so, it was better than being picky.
Speaking of being cadets, Flix folded his arms behind him and allowed his body to fall back (after getting all the stuff, even some sticks and sausages for Penny) onto the grass. Even when hungry he was slow at getting things together. "I'll be a commander soon, just you see. Not a Commissioner, too much work." That was his dream so far. Get just high up enough on the ladder, not the top dog, but high enough to be looked up too none the less.
She was hopeful for him to get his stuff together, looking up at the sky, he was certain it would be a clear night and that he could easily just lay out here instead - which he probably will unless it started raining later on. A Charizard's tail and rain does not mix after all. So if she was going to wait for him to get set ups for her to take a look at his books, she would be disappointed thus far!
Throwing himself back into a sit, grabbing the sticks and tossing her one with a weenie at the end, he began cooking his over the flames. "Pasta? I haven't seen pasta boil over an open flame before; that would be a cool trick to learn!" He's gotten use to the standard camping food, smores, sausages, cold leftovers, fruits, cured meat; but not pasta. Perhaps later he would ask for her to cook some.
it didn't take too long for the sausage to be cooked, he liked his with a little bit of burnt ends (every so often setting his sausage on fire, because well... pyro problems) and began swallowing in the less of elegant manners. He even made a smaller one to feed Aiden who sat patiently at his side.
"So how does your boyfriend feel about you camping with some random dude?" he assumed she had someone waiting at home for her. Time was flying and the sun was setting, still no attempt at making his own tent was made. Still no cloud in the sky, so it was likely he would cuddle up to Kevin later.
"Try a dozen." He could feel his face getting redder with the admitting of his multiple mistakes. Clearing his throat, he broke out into a goofy grin thinking back to all the shit he had done, "A couple kitchen fires," he began counting them on his hands, "A bed had to be replaced, one of the trees, a couple pants events, and much more unmentionables." Yeah they were embarrassing to think of, his face was still quite flushed but he was laughing about it now; especially when he noticed he may have been a bit of a bummer just now.
"What else would I mean?" he was completely oblivious to it all, never in a million years would he think dirty thoughts even if he would stare at a pretty girl from a distance. Call him pathetic or naive, but at least his mind wasn't always in his trousers. "That just means cuddling! Keeps us nice and toasty y'know? Buuut that's fine, I'll freeze in my own tent. Maybe Nolan and Lazarus will keep me company instead." Well that was wishful thinking if he had a tent up. Honestly, he was hoping for a clear night so he could cuddle up to Kevin the Charizard and sleep under the stars instead. Keep himself warm with Kevin's tail.
If not then Cyndaquil and Growlithe would certainly work.
"Of course I did! Novels... science, a few of different sorts. You can take a look in my bag if you want." He stopped by the library early this morning when it was open to grab a few random ones and one with those berries of the area before heading out on this mission.
Then the mention of food perked him out. "What kind of food? I brought wieners of course... some fruit, i think a steak too." Oh wow he was getting hungry, clutching his stomach it growled and disturbed Aiden. "Ugh, speaking of food! The fire seems warm enough now. Want a sausage or something?" Galloping over to his bag, he rummaged around for the sausages he had packed in a small cooler, and frolicked over to a pointy stick (or two depending if Penny was indeed hungry too).
When the fire lit in the makeshift fireplace, he couldn't help but feel euphoric. His one emerald eye shining with the glaze of red embers blazing before it. he smiled softly into the flames before quickly snapping out of it and raised his eye to her. Bruce, suiting name, at least by sound it was suiting. "Houndoom must be perfect for you then! This little hooligan is Aiden, and I purely like fire types, or things that can learn fire moves... maybe." he admitted sheepishly. Water and ground types were his disadvantages, but that didn't make him love Fire types any less to be honest. If anything it made him even more determined to make his team strong despite their typing weaknesses.
"Eh? What's with the face?" He pursed his lips when she wrinkled her nose at his proposition. "Being lazy doesn't deserve such a face." He was legitimately sad. Did she really think that bad of him suddenly? "Just that you were tough and stuff, I don't know, I don't listen to rumours or things; I like to learn about people personally. Now I know you don't like sharing your tent." He continued to pout. How mean. Now he had to actually set up his own tent. "It's okay, I won't share my books then! No bedtime stories for you."
Felix's smile faded almost immediately when she mentioned, slyly, but it was still there, that she had heard about some of the happenings that he had caused around the HQ. Eye roamed away from her face, while a reddening on his own face was hard to hide. He blushed deeply. Oh shit. Seriously? THAT STORY? "Eh yeah haha! Uhm... I offered to buy him pants, but he didn't want to see me for a while." Because well, having your lower half engulfed into flames wasn't enough (especially with the whole fire crotch thing when you aren't ginger like Flix), but to be pantless in front of your cadets... yeah, the man wasn't all too thrilled to see Flix around for a while. Even to this day really.
Blinking a few times from where he hung, she set up her tent rather fast. Sure these things were made to go quickly, why would they waste the time of their Rangers to have them set up tents anyways? But still, first was fun times, and then he could worry about the sleeping quarters. Well at least yours is up! If anything, I can always cram myself into your tent. He smiled a cheeky grin, obviously joking more than anything - despite his laziness where it was almost true. If its gonna be damp, its gonna be cold. Releasing the grip on Aiden, he let the monkey climb onto his shirt and grip on while Flix flipped off his branch and almost nearly didn't land on his feet.
Giggling "That would have been disastrous." he spoke to Aiden while tapping the fire monkey's head, who chirped happily in response. Making his way over to the nearly built fire pit "It's a good thing I brought some books then, and cards if we wanna play some games~" he sand happily before taking a seat on the ground across from the blonde. Of course he didn't hear the comment about the smores, why would he?
But he did think about his books though. Some romance, some fiction and some to learn more about the fauna in the area, wild berries and stuff because who knows what you can find out here! Taking a look around, while holding Aiden still on his shirt with one hand, he spotted the Houndoom. "It's a lovely hound Penny, I hear you're a fire pokemon specialist too huh?" he wondered suddenly if she had heard of some of his slip ups with his pokemon for setting a few fires... the anxiety rose in his chest, and immediately he regretted his choice of topic. Oh dear. His chuckle grew nervous, and he could feel some sweat starting on the back of his neck.
Nah, the higher ups didn't tell anyone about his slip ups, did they?
