[attr=class, topreading]A beam of sunlight awoke Veronica from what seemed like a quick nap - She rolled around on a thin mattress, knowing she had to get up and leave. The night before she had arrived in Azalea Town, it was raining and dark and she had to beg a passerby for a room to sleep in. It would have been impossible for someone like Veronica to set up camp in that weather and she knew the Pokémon Center would have been full. Luckily an old man allowed her to rest at his, yet the spare room wasn't very comfortable and Veronica struggled to get a good night's sleep.
After thank the old man profusely (and rejecting a breakfast offer multiple times) she began to walk around the town. There was so much to look at and so little time - but first she had to head into the Pokemon Center to make sure her Pokémon's minor injuries were properly cared for, and also so she could actually get something good to eat. Money was beginning to run low, and Veronica had debated taking on the Gym leader, but she knew her Pokémon weren't ready - plus she probably wouldn't be able to concentrated on the battle with all the bug Pokémon around.
As the double doors flung open automatically Veronica stepped in, the place was still quiet as it was still early in the morning and people were still sleeping. Lucky for Veronica this meant there wasn't a cue and she rushed over the the nurse, ready to unclip the Pokéballs from her belt. Samson, Jasmine, Lucy and Arya - they had all battled and now properly rested up so it was best to give them all a heal. Veronica has been given the advice to never hand all your Pokémon over to someone at once - you should always keep one for an emergency. But did this really apply to Pokémon centers? Surely not - her Pokémon would be safe in the hands of the nurse. Giving a smile she thanks the nurse and headed over to the small Café connected to the center. This too was empty so Veronica was able to get straight up and order.
The girl behind the till seemed tired and groggy - obviously only working this job to save money for something. As much as Veronica felt sorry for the girl being up this early and working, she wasn't in the mood to be giving poor service. "Green Tea and Toast," Veronica said bluntly, causing the girl to look up in surprise, almost confused that someone was actually here. The girl stared blankly and sighed causing Veronica to tense up and little and blurt "You got that?" and received a nod of acknowledgment. Veronica's eyes rolled as she slammed some money on the counter and headed over to a table. She sat there impatiently waiting for her food and drink to arrive. Her elbows had been resting on the table and slowly gave way, created a pillow for Veronica to rest her head on - causing her eyes to close and allowed Veronica to relax. All that was visible was her bright hair which was still messy and not brushed; moments like these were never thought about when she wrote her stories and adventures and traveling.
Relief crept up inside Veronica's body, allowing her to relax and give out a sigh after Suki had accepted her offer. Maybe she was going to be able to get out of here after all. She couldn't stand it - all the bugs and being completely surrounded - she had begun to feel almost claustrophobic, worrying she was going to freak out again and embarrass herself in front of the strong female. "Thank you," Veronica smiled, humble and thankful for the help Suki had offered.
Suki was right, it was bet they set off now without distractions so they could get out of the forest before the sun went down and the bug Pokémon came out to harasses them. Inkay, oblivious to the whole conversation that had been happening was floating around the feline Pokémon, teasing them and allowing the to paw at her while she spun around. "Jasmine," Veronica called, catching the attention of her Pokémon and gesturing her to follow them. Veronica made sure to keep her distance from Suki, not too fat that they would be separated, but not close enough to annoy the girl - Veronica could tell this girl obviously had issues with people she didn't know, and knew she would respect a bit of personal space.
"So..." Veronica mumbled, probably not loud enough for Suki to hear, "how long do you reckon it'll take?" Her voice rose - She knew the answer would be uncertain and probably get a sarcastic response, but she was simply attempting to make small talk. Veronica couldn't stand silence between two people - it was awkward and just made her cringe. She couldn't see herself getting on with this Suki that well, she was quite abrupt and scary. However, Veronica felt envy for the girl's looks... and her Pokémon. Veronica almost aspired to be like Suki, strong, independent, beautiful; yet still the fear of her was quite overwhelming.
As they trailed through the forest Veronica felt like something was wrong. She hadn't paid much attention to the area she had entered and passed through while chasing Jasmine, yet something about the way the ground felt and trees were position was familiar. Not wanting to question Suki's directions she kept quiet, taking mental notes of specific changes in the surroundings; yet all that included was maybe a tree with a broken branch or a up-turned rock. Maybe Veronica was just paranoid, but she was beginning the feel like they weren't heading toward Azalea Town. Was this some kind of plan Suki was plotting, or was she just unaware of where she was going?
428 words | tag Suki Soma | yes omg lost and angry suki dealing with freaking out veronica surrounded by bugs; that will be so good haha
Suki. It was a nice name, but for some reason Veronica didn't think this girl herself was nice. Veronica composed herself and finally stood back up, wiping away the dirt she had managed to sprawl all over her body. She had no idea what she could offer the girl other than her own company - was Suki really not willing to just be kind and help Veronica out? Obviously not. The abrupt nature in which she spoke was harsh enough to send shivers down Veronica's spine. She peering around the area, wondering is she could just slip away and pretend this interaction hadn't happened and try managed the forest by herself. Yet, if what had just happened could tell Veronica anything; it was that there was no way she would be able to get through here without help.
"Erm..." She stuttered, looking around for anything that would give her an idea of what she could offer Suki for her help. It was useless, Veronica was new to adventuring; she lacked anything of worth, especially money. "Well, I don't t-think I have anything to offer..." Veronica sighed. She glanced at the feline Pokémon and gave a little smile. That was it; that's what she could offer! "Food!" She exclaimed, almost involuntary, far too excited by the idea that had come to mind.
"I have plenty of spare food for your Pokémon if you want?" Her hand frantically began rummaging through her handbag for different fruit and nut bars she had stocked up on before leaving Goldenrod City. With a handful of them lunged in her palms and between her fingers she extended them towards Suki and her Pokémon. She had splashed quite a but of money of these and felt almost cheated that they would all go on getting help out of the forest. In all fairness she and her Pokémon could survive on what they had already eaten and if they made it to Azalea Town they could get a proper meal there - Yet unless Suki accepted Veronica's offer it might be a while till they get there. "So..." Veronica grinned, "What do you say?"

As Veronica rushed to the aid of Jasmine she heard the sound of a girl's voice; it was a abrupt and caused a shiver to run down her spine. This was a bad sign and caused Veronica to up her pace. As she pushed her way through some tree's she saw where the voice had come from. Stood in front of her was a girl with glowing blonde hair and an outfit that didn't really suit traveling through a forest.
Quickly Veronica grabbed her Inkay and made some distance between the women and her feline Pokémon. This was one of the first people Veronica has properly made contact with since she left Goldenrod - although she had a bad feeling about the women she decided to try and be friendly. "I'm so sorry about that, she's new to my team and likes to wander," she giggled, rubbing Jasmine on the head while she tried to get out of Veronica's grip.
"You're Pokémon are stunning!" She exclaimed, finally notices how pristine and well groomed this woman's Pokémon really were. It was outstanding - considering they were stood deep within a filthy forest. It suddenly hit Veronica that meeting this woman could be helpful. The way she presented herself projected confidence. "S-So my name's Veronica," she stuttered, trying to ask the awkward question, "Could y-you possible give me a hand getting to A-Azalea Town?" She tried to give a wide grin which possibly could come off creepy.
As she waiting for a response Veronica noticed a weird tickle of her back - it only took seconds for her to realize what it was and she began to freak out. Swinging her arms and spinning around rapidly while a Spinirak clung to her jacket. Samson, in an attempt to rescue his trainer began shooting Water Guns randomly at her, firing all over the forest. Jasmine simply floated around, entertained by the reaction of her trainer.
After a couple direct hits from the Poliwag's Water Gun the Spinirak detached itself from Veronica and quickly scattered away. Curling up on the ground, Veronica began to tremble - Bugs were probably one of the worst things she could possible image; and right now she was completely surrounded by them in this forest. She looked up at the stranger, silently begging her to help.

[attr="class","smdbody"]Samson was struggling to breath, taking in deep breathes and only letting out short coughing sounds. Veronica knew it was time to put his newly learnt move into action. "Samson, use rest - get some sleep and heal up," she said softly - he nodded and began to doze off, withing seconds his grazes began to fade and he looked much healthier.
Veronica looked over to the Pokéball she threw - it was still shaking on the ground. She new Deino would put up a tough fight but this was intense. It reminded her of a story she wrote at the age of seventeen. A young fairy-type trainer has traveled up a great mountain in an unknown region, only to be faced head to head with a group of dragon-type Pokémon. Of course you would think she had an advantage but the poor girl was out numbered. She fought and fought - her Pokémon growing weak - it seemed like the battle was over, yet-
Her train of thought came to a abrupt end. The sound of her Pokéball automatically caused her to smile. The story she had written would have to wait until another time to be brought back to life by her imagination. She grabbed Samson and cradled him in her arms - much like a mother to her baby. With her free hand she picked up the Pokéball which now contained her new Pokemon. Arya, the Deino.
Veronica had decided it was time to set up camp. She hadn't realized how late it had gotten and she'd rather be in her tent when it got dark. She didn't enjoy being out at night-time, she only enjoyed watching the stars, and that's why her tent had a transparent roof. As she sent out her sleeping bag she decided it would be a good time to let out two of her new Pokémon; Lucy and Arya. She reached for the Pokéballs which had been neatly arranged on a little pouch; she gently pressed on the buttons of them and the Panpour and Deino materialized in the tent. Suddenly the space felt quite cramped and made Veronica feel slight anxious.
"Hey guys..." she whispered, giving a warm smile. Deino lifted her head as a sign of acknowledgement, whereas the Panpour turned away. "Erm..." she sighed, trying to get eye contact with Lucy who seemed to not care for her new trainer. Veronica decided now wasn't the time to try and win over her new Pokémon and awkwardly returned the Panpour.
"I'm not sure what's up with her?" Veronica questioned, Arya gave a little shrug and got closer to her trainer, giving a friendly head rub. Veronica grinned and began to pat Arya, happy that she was getting on with the Dragon Pokémon. Not much was said between the two and not before long they had got ready to sleep and prepare for their next day on the route - and hopefully the last. It was about time Veronica headed into Ilex forest.
---
As the sun rose it glared into the tent and awoke Veronica. Excited for her journey to continue she eagerly began to pack up the tent with the help of Arya (who was still quite sleepy and managed to trip Veronica up multiple times). After everything was cleared they headed south again, the forest not too far now. As they walked side by side a slight buzzing sound caught their attention. Just to the left of them was a wild Pokémon, electric coating it's bright blue fur. "A Shinx..." Veronica said under her breathe. Perhaps this was a sign to try out battling with her new Pokémon.
"Okay Arya, let's get a surprise attack - use focus energy and hit it with a headbutt," she whispered, trying not the pull the Shinx's attention. Arya nodded and began to tense her body, her energy rose and she was ready to attack the Shinx from behind. Quickly dashing she made contact and knocked the wild Pokemon back a few feet. In shock the Shinx let out a couple sparks. Veronica expected the Pokémon to retaliate with an electric move so it could attack from a distance. Yet the Shinx charged forward and attempted a tackle attack - it hit but Arya easily withstood it. "Well this will be easy," Veronica giggled, knowing that the battle was already won. "Use Dragon Rage!" She shouted, the Deino seemed to already know what Veronica was going to say and the attack was ready within seconds, smashing into the Shinx and leaving it panting on the floor for breathe.
Arya skipped back towards Veronica, proud of herself for proving to her trainer how useful she really was. Reaching into her handbag Veronica grabbed one of the last empty Pokéballs that she had and aimed it at the badly hurt Shinx. As the Pokéball attempted to capture her Veronica almost felt guilty - she had attacked an innocent Pokémon - but at the same time she knew this was how things had to be. She was a Pokémon trainer now... and this is how things had to be done.
[attr="class","smdbody"]At this moment in time Veronica couldn't care less about the pokeball that had just began to shake on the ground, she ran to her Inkay as a mother would to an injured child. She picked up her poor battered and bruised Pokemon and began to brush off the dirt; only to reveal gazing underneath. "Oh, Jasmine, you poor thing..." she sighed, reaching for one of the pokeballs she had clipped to her belt. "Take a rest for now, you did an amazing job," Veronica tapped the central button and a red light quickly returned the Pokémon into the comfort of it's new home. Samson, who had followed Veronica, had began tapping on her leg with his body, trying to get her attention; as she looked down she suddenly remember about the pokéball she had thrown, noticing it had stopped moving and the Panpour was caught. Slightly holding a grudge for what the water monkey had done she clipped it's pokeball onto her belt and didn't say a word.
Roughly ten minutes later Veronica had calmed down and was enjoying watching her Samson play around in a pond - the sun can slowly cleared away the puddles and dried up the mud - already this had caused her to feel a lot better. The Poliwag began shooting streams of water up into the air and dancing around the falling particles while the droplets which evaporated listening around him. "Oooh, super pretty!" Veronica teased, flicking her hair over her shoulder to insinuate the femininity of Samson. The Poliwag huffed up angrily and splashed Veronica with a water gun, yet she just laughed it off and picked up Samson, giving him a hug to show there were no hard feelings.
A tiny growl from behind caused Veronica to quickly spin around - and stood there was a Deino - she couldn't believe her eyes. She knew the Pokémon were rare in Unova, let alone Johto. Trying not to scare the Pokémon away she took a couple of steps backwards slowly placed Samson onto the ground. "Hey there... are you lost?" she questioned, one arm extended across the front of Samson to stop him making any sudden movements. She wasn't too sure what to do here... should she attempt to capture the Deino? She felt slightly bad, not wanting to startle it. "This is Samson; would you mind having a battle against him?" Veronica decided it was worth asking, and luckily the wild Pokémon gave a little head knock and leaped back - giving distance between the two of them - obviously he was used to battling.
"Ha! Okay then!" Veronica laughed, humored by the fact she had tried acting so calm with a Pokémon who obviously wasn't new to battling. "Samson let's start this with a wa-" before she even managed to give out an order the Deino was attacking, a purple ball of energy formed and flew toward Samson so quickly there was no time to dodge. "Cool, Dragon Rage!" Veronica exclaimed, a bit too happy to see the move for the first time considering it had just collided with her Pokémon. "I-I mean - Water Gun!" She tried to quickly brush past the unprofessional outburst and watched intensely and Samson sprayed water at the opponent, knocking him back a step or two, "Get up close with tackle!" she continued, the Poliwag quickly rushed toward Deino and they collided. Veronica noticed something odd; after the attack landed Poliwag was still making contact with the Pokémon. She shuffled over to the right to view from another angle and noticed Samson wincing in pain - Deino had used the close proximity to his advantage and landed a Bite attack!
"Oh god! Put 'em to sleep - use Hypnosis!" She shrieked, a bit panicked by how this battle wasn't currently in her favor. Samson managed to wriggle free of the Deino's grasp and let out the supersonic waves to hopefully immobilize his opponent - unluckily the Deino was too quick and managed to dodge. Veronica watched as the dragon Pokémomn began to tense up... what as he doing? Samson used this opportunity to gain some distance and waited on a command - it was in this moment Veronica realized what the Deino was doing, "Shit! Samson, it's using Focus Energy! Quickly use Water Gun and knock their balance!" her voice was beginning to crack and it seemed close to tears. Samson could sense this, and he wanted to prove to his trainer that everything was okay. Close to exhaustion the Poliwag used the last bits of his energy to let out a powerful Water Gun, being sure to get a direct aim at the Deino's head to cause as much damage as possible - as the attack ripped through the air at what seemed like slow motion Veronica had an idea. "Have Hypnosis trail behind!" Samson's eyes lit up as he knew this would work perfectly.
Just as the Deino seemed to come out of it's state of concentration it was hit with the Water Gun attack, causing the Pokémon to stumble, yet not completely fall over. Within a second or two the Hypnosis his dead on, leaving the Deino in a state of shock and then unconsciousness. Veronica gave out a yelp of happiness and reached for one of her empty pokéballs, quickly throwing it before anything else could happen. She watched as the Deino materialized into the tiny ball and it dropped to the ground. Veronica honestly didn't mind too much of outcome of this capture; she was just happy to have turned the fight around and have a chance at battling such a rare amazing Pokémon.
This was it. This is what she left home to do. These were the stories she wrote about as a child; and now she was living them.

Veronica couldn't believe she had forgotten about this. Ilex Forest, more than likely to be crawling with bug type Pokémon, with their squirmy legs and menacing eyes... she began to question whether it was worth turning back and traveling north. Samson and Jasmine however seemed to enjoy the forest, jumping around the trees as Veronica struggled to take her first step in.
"G-Guys... Maybe we should h-head back?" she muttered, her words were barley audible over the sound of chirps and rustling. Samson trotted towards the freaking out twenty year old and gave a look which almost said get a grip, he wandered behind her and began to push at the back of her legs, causing Veronica to step forward and stumble. Letting out a little squeal she tried to jump back but instead lost balance and fell to the ground. Jasmine immediately stopped messing about with the trees and floated to Veronica's attention. She laid on the ground, taking a second or two to comprehend what had just happened. The moment she realized her face and body were firmly implanted on the grass where bugs had once bee and lived she darted up and began to brush herself off aggressively. "Not funny!" she grunted as Samson waddled around to her front. "Well, I guess you two are keen on this path..." Veronica sighed and composed herself, ready to set foot into Ilex forest.
After about five minutes of walking Veronica had already stopped eight times to make sure a spinarak wasn't crawling up her back; it got to the point where Samson would shoot water at her back each time she even went to ask them to check, just to reassure her there was nothing there. When Veronica had told herself she was going to explore Johto - and ultimately the world - she had completely underestimated how brave she truly was. Yet, this was only the beginning and she knew that she could withstand anything if she one hundred percent had to. With her new partners she felt comfortable enough to venture into places she once had written about in her short stories years ago.
Jasmine had began traveling a little bit ahead, being able to float had it advantages when it came to walking for ages, so the Inkay kept disappearing around corners and it began to worry Veronica. "Jasmine! Stop wondering, we need to stick together!" She exclaimed, yet to no avail, the Inkay kept floating ahead. Sighing, Veronica's hand began to explore her handbag and finally pulled out an oat bar which she had been craving. Her pace began to slow as she undid the wrapper and went to take a bite. Just as the oat bar made it to Veronica lips a deafening "INKAAAAY!" echoed across the forest.
"Fuck!" Veronica spat as the oat bar fell to the ground and she began to run toward the noise of her distressed Pokémon, Samson running alongside her.

[attr="class","smdbody"]The Pokéball began to twitch on the ground, each time causing Veronica's body to tense up a bit more. Samson was still ready to fight, expecting the Inkay to break free and attack suddenly. To both of their surprises the ball let out a tiny ding and fell stiff. They did it. Veronica has caught her first Pokémon - excited she began to squeal and picked up Samson, twirling him around in the air and jumping. In a moment of pure joy she almost forgot to actually pick up the Pokéball containing her new team member.
Veronica gently took the ball and released the Inkay. The Pokémon simply floated in the air and stared at Veronica with blank eyes. Slightly nervous, she reached out her hand with a welcoming gesture and calming said "Hey there..." she cleared her throat in an attempt to sound less scared. "My name's Veronica, and this is Samson," she pointed to the Poliwag who was staring at the Inkay with confused eyes. "Welcome to out team... do you mind if I call you Jasmine? It's such a pretty named for a pretty Pokémon!" Veronica gave out a little giggle. The Inkay finally reacted and gave out a happy "Ink!" and rubbed up against Veronica's arm. Obviously the Inkay has come to terms with what was happened and seemed content to join Veronica.
After an hour of getting to know one another the three of them all began to set off again south. Veronica's plan was to make it through Ilex forest and get to Azalea town as quick as possible. Unfortunately she knew she had to train up her Pokémon first and add new members to the team to keep her safe. "Okay guys, keep an eye out for any wild Pokémon..." Veronica sighed, as much as battling had given her a thrill she was worried that was just beginners luck.
The Sun had just hit the center of the sky and Veronica could feel the sweet dripping down her forehead and decided to head over to a rather large tree to get some shelter and share water with her companions. As they reached their destination Veronica leaned against the bark, ignoring the scraping on her back as the shade was far more satisfying. As she stood there, enjoying the moment of relaxation a rustle caused her to dash forward and look above the spot she had claimed. A blue blur vanished back into the leafs of the tree - "A Pokémon!" Veronica cried out, gaining the attention of Samson and Jasmine. The Poliwag was ready to go into action, but it seemed before Veronica could say anything Jasmine was in front of Veronica, ready to take on the mysterious enemy.
"Oh? You want to try Jasmine?" Veronica questioned; the Inkay gave a nod and inched forward, awaiting a command from her new trainer. "Okay then! Knock whatever that thing is out the tree with your Tackle attack!" She cried out, and almost before her sentenced was finished Inkay was dashing towards the tree, disappearing into the same leafs that the blue blur had. Seconds later something fell to the ground... A Panpour was on the ground panting, grazed from the fall. Jasmine appeared after, a little disorientated, which lead to the Panpour shoot a stream of water straight at the Inkay. "Careful Jasmine! Keep him close with Constrict then show him your Foul Play attack!" Veronica's hands were clenched tight to her side, Samson staring surprising at his Trainer.
Jasmine shook off the attack and stretched out a couple of her tentacles to trap the Panpour who had just managed to stand up. With the wild Pokémon within her grasp Jasmine let out her Foul Play attack, using the Panpour's own strength against him. Seeming pretty worn out Veronica thought now would be a good time to through a Pokéball - this Panpour seemed like a good fighter and she could so with some more protection from the wilds. Once against she rummaged through her handbag whilst Jasmine's grip grew weak. Just as Veronica was able to find the Pokéball and have it firmly in her hand the Panpour had broke free of Jasmine's grip and tackled her against the bark of the tree. "Shit..." Veronica whispered, she had got far too distracted, "Jasmine - quick - use a peck attack!" She cried out, saying the first thing that came to mind. The Inkay tensed up and flew toward the Panpour, getting a direct hit in it's stomach and sending it flying. Quickly Veronica made aim an threw her Pokéball at the wild Pokémon, awaiting to see the results. Could Jasmine really carry on this fight?

[attr="class","smdbody"]Samson's eyes began to narrow, he could sense another Pokemon near by. This was his first chance to prove to Veronica that he was here to protect her and was worthy of being her starter Pokémon. A rustle from a nearby oran berry bush had both of them diverting their gazes left.
As Veronica caught sight of the wild Inkay a feeling of joy spread all through her body and an involuntary "Awww!" escaped her lips. "It is SO cute!" she exclaimed; her hands flew up to her lips to cover them - now was not the time to get distracted by the overwhelming cuteness of a Pokémon. She quickly shook herself out of it and and caught the attention of Samson who was pumping to go.
"Okay, Samson - this is it - show me what you've got, buddy!" Her arm extended and pointed toward the wild Pokémon, Samson's body tensed up, preparing for anything that could happen. "Start this off with a Water Gun," it felt unusual to command a Pokémon, she hadn't once done it in Twenty years. In her head she began to worry that perhaps she hadn't said it right and nothing would happen, her poor Poliwag would sit their confused and take a beating from the Inkay and she wouldn't be ale to do anything to help him.
Luckily, this wasn't the case. Samson gave a little nod and bounced into action. He inhaled deeply, before a gush of water began to fly out of his little mouth, aimed straight toward the wild Pokémon. He darted his body to the left almost automatically, and watched as Inkay got knocked back a couple feet and shook itself off in surprise. Perhaps the wild Pokémon wasn't wanting to fight, but it was too late now, the battle had started and Veronica wasn't about to give up now. "Good job, stay alert and use Hypnosis and another Water Gun!" she cried, a small croak distorted her words due to her nervousness. As the Inkay straightened itself out and glared at Samson it was far too distracted to noticed what he was doing. The Hypnosis attack and landed dead on, and no matter how hard she tried, the Inkay began to struggle to keep it's eyes open.
Samson knew this was the perfect time to land another Water Gun and repeated the move, inhaling and sending another fountain of water at the wild Pokémon. As the attack landed there was very little response from the Inkay as it had already fallen into a deep sleep, and it's unconscious body rolled across the ground, picking up dirt and grit. Veronica began to feel a little bit guilty for the poor Pokémon, she was taking a little bit of a beating. "Okay Samson, that's enough!"
Fumbling with the items in her handbag she managed to grasp an empty pokéball, giving it a little peck with her lips as a sign of good luck. Praying her aim was accurate and she'd done enough damaged to secure a capture, Veronica threw the mechanism, crossing her fingers whilst Samson kept a close eye on the Inkay - as much as he hoped the battle was over, he knew there was a chance he may have to keep fighting.

[attr="class","smdbody"]After leaving the comforts of Goldenrod City nearly three days ago, Veronica still found herself stuck to Route Thirty-Four. She had simply told herself it was because she was not used to the area and was still trying to get accustom to it. But in reality it was her subconscious beginning to question whether leaving home was the best thing to do. She may have fought and begged with her parents to approve of this adventure, but deep down was this really what she wanted to do? Yet her stubbornness was overpowering and she knew she couldn't turn back now; her and Samson (the Poliwag) were in it for the long-run.
The two of them had relatively kept to themselves, only interacting with others when necessary - like when she couldn't get a fire lit and swore she was going to die of starvation after not eating dinner for one night. Samson seemed eager to get up and about which left Veronica very little choice over the matter - it was time to start training him, and perhaps capture some new Pokémon whilst doing so.
With Samson leading first she set off from her packed up campsite, making sure to avoid the patches of mud from last night's downpour. The two of them were still just getting to know each other, but Veronica knew that with such a lively personality this Poliwag was going to come in handy during her explorations of Johto. Veronica's eyes kept darting left and right, keeping watch for any wild Pokémon which could possibly sneak-attack while Samson and herself were off guard.
This was it; The moment of truth. Was Veronica right? Was she actually ready to leave home and venture into the real world. As she began to loose awareness of her surroundings Samson's chirpy "Poli!" brought her back to reality... Something was near.

FRIENDS
veronica is incredibly friendly and i can see her getting on with a majority of people. although she doesn't go out of her way to make friends, when veronica runs into someone she often takes a liking to them; especially when they share similar interests with her. if someone has interesting stories to tell of adventures, she will be willing to sit and listen to them for hours. she's never really had someone to call a best-friend, so a possible close friendship would be nice (probably a girl - she'd probably just lust after any guy that paid attention to her and then cry when the feelings weren't reciprocated).
ENEMIES
it's not often that veronica will dislike someone, unless they end up telling her what to do or simply being horrible to her. after growing up stuck in goldenrod city, veronica has always wanted to explore the world - so anyone who threatens that would probably go into her bad books. in all fairness it's not too hard to gain her forgiveness. the only people she'd permanently hate would be criminals (team rocket), so it would be pretty awesome to have a story-line of her befriending someone only to find out the truth and perhaps creating a rivalry between them.
LOVERS
veronica easily becomes infatuated with boys, so i'm happy to be bombarded with possible crushes. for the time being she is focused on her adventure, therefore i'm not sure she'd want a serious relationship - but if she was to find someone who she fell for and the relationship blossomed - i wouldn't say no. if you'd be interested let me know and we can brainstorm some long-term ideas (or short-term flings) and get the ball rolling.
Samson was gifted to Veronica as a goodbye present by her father (much to her mother's disapproval). He was hatched from the most recent egg of his Politoed and took an immediate liking to Veronica, often sleeping on her bed or in her arms. As much as Samson could still be perceived as a child; he is a persistent fighter and craves adventure much like Veronica. His rash nature can sometimes lead him into trouble and lead Veronica into having a heart attack, but the two of them enjoy their time together and their friendship can only improve by exploring the world together - hopefully.

Jasmine the inkay
female - ten - contrary - quiet
Jasmine keeps to herself a lot of the time - relatively quiet people often mistake her as being nervous or shy. in reality Jasmine just simply doesn't enjoy the company of others all that often, the only other Pokémon of Veronica's that she gets on with is Samson. When battling she shows a completely different side to herself, never wanting to give up and prove to herself and Veronica what she's capable of. Jasmine is still a new member of the team and Veronica still has a lot to learn about her, but the two of them get on well and Veronica can't help but just want to cuddle Jasmine 24/7.

Lucy the panpour
female - ten - torrent - brave
Lucy put Jasmine through a huge fight when they first met; this Panpour acts how she wishes, barely listening to commands and getting into fights. She is very brave and willing to take on any opponent; even the ones she has very little chance of bearing. Veronica struggles to grow attached to Lucy, but only time will tell if the tension between them subsides and they can get along. Lucy herself is not too fussed about how she is perceived.

arya the deino
female - twelve - hustle - adamant
Arya is Veronica's prized Pokémon - The battle between her and Samson was the first time Veronica felt like she was really living the adventures which her childhood revolved around. Arya is not from Johto, how she got here is unknown, but Veronica has taken in the stranded Pokémon and they share a close bond. The Deino is a true warrior; she knows how to fight and is incredibly modest, yet adamant to prove her worth. Arya is loyal and a lot more mature than Veronica's other Pokémon - which is rather refreshing. Taking the role of mother, Arya will do anything to protect her new family.

Veronica Childs - Also known as "Vee" by her friends and family - grew up in the bustling city of Goldenrod. Some would say her childhood was somewhat bland; nothing worth mentioning other than her multiple crushes on the boys around the city, but in hindesight which young girl didn't automatically become infatuated with the first boy who pulled her hair at school? Her parents, Jason Childs and Amanda Childs (formerly Quinn), lead simple lives, never living outside their means and getting by quite comfortably. As Veronica grew up she almost began to resent her parents for this, almost wishing something extraordinary would happen just so she would have stories to tell. Unfortunately this never happened and Veronica was left to create her own adventures, picking up a pen and putting it to paper and living the lives of a thousand different people in a thousand different regions; and so began her artistic flare as a writer.
Skipping forward a few years, Veronica spent a lot of her time at home, focusing on her studies and would write in her spare time. Yet no matter how many stories she penned there was still a longing for a real adventure - a desire to experience the world for herself. Goldenrod City almost began to feel like a prison, yet the bars which contained her did not exist physically. Instead she was trapped by her own fear of what could possibly be waiting outside. There was a conflict within her between the yearning to explore and the anxiety of leaving security. It wasn't until she was nineteen that Veronica came to a decision; it was time to get out and see the world.
On her Twentieth birthday Veronica set off, much to her parent's disapproval. Her adventure was to begin in her home region of Johto, it was time for her to witness the beauty and uniqueness of where she had been living for so long. Still she feared the worst, not helped by the horror stories her mother told in a last-attempt bid to get her daughter to stay. Yet with her mind made up and the world within her grasp, Veronica felt like there was no stopping her; she even began to think that the stories she wrote could one day no longer be fiction.
