Harper really was an awfully polite girl, even opening a door for Sam. He didn't mind it really, but wouldn't himself really bother to do that. The guy just walked past the girl and entered inside the place. What made him turn his head was hearing a sudden thought from the blonde. She afterwards that the Espeon had a habit of telling even her thoughts that aren't supposed to be. "Well that's kinda bothersome. You think she just misunderstands that they should be told or does she do it on purposed?" Sam showed some interest in his question. The Espeon seemed smart enough to know what's just a passing thought and what isn't, so the trainer himself thought to just ask out of curiosity.
The two got over to the counter and the amount of option was rather impressive, with Sam already starting to ponder what he'll take and Milo struggling to not start drooling on his trainer's shoulder.
Harper signaled the man, calling him over. What next happened was justs silence, that Sam just figured out to be the blonde telling her own order. Waiting for his own turn to make his turn, the young man smiled once the girl told him to tell what he wants. "Medium sized burrito, with fillings being beans, lettuce, salsa, tomatoes, lots of olives, green and red pepper and jalopeños. Also, grab me two bottles of water to drink." Sam listed off, keeping it to his tastes and taking bottles for him and Harper. He wasn't sure if she had already picked a drink, but it was better to play it safe. Even if she had, he could use something to drink ready with him anyways later in the day. "And a small burrito with the same fillings." He added, remembering his partner Pokémon. If he was going to eat, he might as well get some grub for Milo too.
With the orders made, the employee told the amount that the orders would cost and Sam payed it with the even amount, as he already had enough small change in his waller so more of that would just be bothersome. Once the money was handed over and the young man got the receipt, with the employee telling that they'll bring their orders to their table.
So with that taken care of, Sam turned around to scan through the place, seeing that they're pretty much free to pick whatever place they wanted. "You wanna pick the table? I don't really care about the spot myself." He said, disinterested and scratching the back of his head a bit.

"Efficiently taking the easy way out is my way of living."
Sam gave a questioning look to the girl's reaction to his reason for being in Goldenrod. Admirable? How the hell is it admirable to the girl? But then again, it was sort of pleasant to have someone actually have a positive reaction for his way of life, so he didn't bother questioning Harper.
Listening in return to Harper's own reason, Sam automatically made a mental note out of her family having a problem with the girl using Eve as a means of communicating and connected it to her uncle. "Yeah, just use this way to communicate. I would, as it is much more convenient." The young man gave his own comment, rather for the side note than for the reason to visit the city itself.
Harper continued and Sam nodded, remembering that the gym existed. He had kind of forgotten its existance for a short bit of time, even though he had thought about it before bumping into the girl walking right next to her. Maybe he'll tackle the gym himself if he'd find some interesting Pokémon for his team.
Setting plans for the gym for later, once the two finally arrived to the gym that was Harper's choice, which seemed to be a little Mexican restaurant. The blondie asked if the place was okay with a smile sweet enough for one to almost taste it. Sam himself gave a calm smile, with only a small difference to his neutral expression. "Yup. I trust that you chose a good place."

Sam was pleased that the girl seemed to have registered what he had said, and the two made their leave, with Sam looking behind at Harper's uncle with a smirk and eyes that looked like he was looking at trash, and gave the man a wave of a hand. There was no real meaning to it besides the fact that it was a sort of silent 'fuck you'. Hopefully the man was smarter than he seemed and would be able to realize the message.
The two and their Pokémon walked, well Milo was resting on Sam's shoulder but whatever, without saying a word and the young man didn't mind it. It meant saving energy and besides sometimes forcing conversations just made things awkward, so it was better to not just say anything if there was no topics. This silence however was broken by Harper, who asked what Sam was doing in the city.
Pondering a bit what kind of answer he should give, the brunette just ended up shrugging. "I honestly have no real purpose here. I'm just kinda travelling for fun and looking around places." He answered, giving the most boring answer he could; the truth. "What about you then?" Sam asked in return, showing some sort of interest in his tone, though a bit of it might've been forced. Though what he had told was in no way anything personal, the young man wasn't going to be the only telling their reason for being here.

Seemingly quite cheery from Sam saying yes, Harper just went ahead and picked up the part, even paying for them while at it. The guy himself just stood there, waiting for the girl to come back and tell her what is the catch. The two had just met, so it was very unlikely this would turn out to be a completely free thing for him.
Turned out that Harper made an offer of lunch for parts and set up, which Sam immediately nodded to. She was even offering her hand for a handshake. Wasn't that just dandy. "Sounds good to me." He chirped, replying with his own smile. This trade honestly seemed more in favour for Sam, as he's getting parts and the set up for the cost of a single meal. Normally those would cost at the very least two of them. As long as the blondie wouldn't turn out to be a huge glutton, this was Sam's win. "It was starting to be around time for some grub anyways." He added and finally grabbed Harper's hand, shaking it a bit.
"Why don't you just choose the place we would go to eat? Goldenrod's not that familiar to me, and you getting to choose could be seen as a small bonus. Just remember that I'm not exactly rolling in dough." Sam said to the girl. Everything he said was point on. He didn't know any places and Harper seemed to know her way around the city herself, so she was way more fit to choose where they would eat. As long as it wouldn't be expensive and has good salad, he'd be okay with everything.

Harper turned around to look at Sam and asked if he still wanted to check some stuff for his Pokégear, even offering that she would take care of the technicalities. He already came here and his Pokégear was quite bland at the moment, so it wouldn't hurt to at least check something out, especially since he wouldn't have to fuck around with setting the parts himself if he did end up buying something. "Sure, sure." Sam said non-chalantly, scratching the behind of his head a bit.
For a moment the guy and his partner on his shoulder lowered their gazes to look at the Espeon, who seemed to be eyeing on the trainer with a rather curious look. Not really being able to help it, Sam felt a tad bit like there was more behind it than just curiosity, but could just as well be some paranoia. The Skorupi on his shoulder however wasn't thinking as much, but was rather looking at the Espeon as another trainers Pokémon, judging if he'd win or lose.
Once Harper spoke up and pointed out the items she said would be necessary for the upgrade, the young man lifted his eyes back and curiously looked at the parts. They weren't expensive, but they weren't cheap either. Still, Sam did consider that he might get them.
With the voice of the blondie's uncle heard in the background, the messy haired brunette considered if he would get the parts. Like he had already observed earlier, they weren't expensive and in addition, he'd get the set up and modifications basically free. Hell, he might even get some bonus points and the company of a pretty girl wasn't anything Sam was against. With all this pros, the choice was quite obvious to him. "Alright. I'll get these parts and take you up on your offer." The young man looked at Harper with a smile.

Harper and the man being related came out as a surprise to Sam. He didn't exactly see the family resemblance in the two. Well, maybe he kinda did if he really squinted his eyes and let his imagination change the picture a little bit, but otherwise the two didn't seem all that related to the young man.
The next thing that happened had to be one of the oddest thing one could see without context. Hell, even with context it was rather confusing and seemed weird as fuck. What was obvious by the expressions and mannerisms of Harper was that the two were arguing. Honestly, Sam didn't have any real interest in getting involved into this and just remained there in silent, observing and listening the few times the girl's uncle spoke.
"Boyfriend, eh..." Sam muttered to himself for no real reason. The man really did seem to like taking a jab at her niece, especially about her muteness. This kind of family matter were just bothersome really. Even witnessing one was just tiring to the young man. The Skorupi on his shoulder was more indifferent about the situation, though that was mostly because Milo had no real idea what was going on and had this questioning look.
The argument with a hint of family dilemmas seemed to be put into an end with Harper forcing her communicator onto her uncle's hands and giving him the death glare. At this point if wasn't really necessary to know exactly what she was saying, because it was pretty easy to make a somewhat accurate guess based on her posture and glare alone. "We done here or..." Sam questioned, ignoring the current atmosphere.

Sam followed right behind Harper, grinning at her words. She really did seem to be more acquaintanced with the store than the normal customer. "Wow, Harper. You're making me feel real special here." The young man jokingly replied.
It didn't take too long for the two to arrive to the shop, which had a sign with the name 'Pruitt' on it. The same was a simple kind of silly, causing Sam to snort from holding back his laughter. He felt sad for anyone with that name.
The shop was a rather impressive place. Too impressive to be honest. The basic picture of a shop specializing with gizmos and shit like that to Sam was a small and messy place, covered with all kinds of scrap. Not that he wanted the shop to be like that, but this all felt too much to the young man.
Seemingly out of nowhere a man appeared out nowhere and he seemed to know Harper. Calling the girl a 'prodigical child' did stand out, but that was tossed aside in Sam's head the moment the man called the blondie 'mute-y'. What a pathetic thing to call someone. Sam just looked at the man with a somewhat confused look, pondering that how boring of a guy do you have to be to call someone 'mute-y'. He even went ahead and used the 'cat got your tongue' line.
"Harper? Who's this bland fuck?" Sam asked from the girl, turning his head towards her with a raised brow and finger pointing towards the man.

"Efficiently taking the easy way out is my way of living."
Well wasn't that cute. Harper seemed so relieved to know that Sam was okay with the way of communication, even giving off a laugh. Though it didn't sound like one exactly, being way too quiet and raspy, but the look on the girl's face showed everything necessary to know she was laughing. "Well, as long as you don't start digging up all my secrets from my head, everything will be fine." Sam laughed in response to the girl telling why she likes to make sure people are okay with speaking through Eve the Espeon.
Watching Harper switch hands with which to hold her Espeon with made the young man ponder that if it was bothersome. Espeons' height around average were close to a meter and a bit over 25 kilos in weight, so it must not be too easy to carry a Pokémon like that. Then again, Sam had the Scorpion Pokémon resting on his shoulder, which was around 80 cm in heigth and weighed about 12 kilos and he was completely fine.
The girl told that she was going to the shop down the street, with a slight pause mid-sentence that Sam didn't miss, though he didn't bother questioning it. He just continued listening to Harper, who sounded like she knew the shop and it's owners well enough to even have an opinion about them. Interesting.
Gears had started turning in Sam's head and he had in less than a second come up with a bullshit story about his Pokégear malfunctioning and that he was looking for a store to have it be checked out. This was going to be his attempt at being able to accompany Harper to her visit to the store, but it turned out to be pointless as the blondie herself seemed to invite Sam. "Sure. I could use something to spice up my Pokégear." He responded with a grin. The guy didn't have any problems with this turn of events, as this just saved him the effort of spouting bullshit. "Lead the way." He continued grinning, swiping his arm to his side to give way to Harper.

Sam helped the girl up. She responded to the question by saying she was okay and took the blame for the contact, which the young man didn't mind. He only responded to it with a small smirk and a nod. Good thing the person Sam bumped into wasn't the kind that would have made a big deal out of this.
The blondie, Harper, proceeded to introduce herself and explained why she was communicating through her Espeon, Eve. Sam had now registered that the girl really must be mute, with the communicator and a Pokémon with abilities to communicate with it's powers. Of course she could just be the kind of person who doesn't want to talk or something among those lines, but that didn't seem too likely.
The odd thing about Harper was the fact that she seemed to be worried about Sam being bothered about the way she communicated. This was the guy's first time being talked through a psychic-type Pokémon, but it didn't bother him. It just was an odd experience is all. "I'm Samguk, but you can just call me Sam and this fellow on my shoulder is Milo." Sam introduced himself and his partner in return, lifting his hand to pat the Skorupi's smooth head. "And no need to worry about communicating through your Espeon. I'm cool with it." He continued to ensure Harper that he had no problem with the way they comminucated. Honestly, he'd probably do it himself if he had some Pokémon capable of the same as the blondie's Espeon.
An idea popped into Sam's head completely out of nowhere. He didn't have anything to do anyways, so he might as well try to get some company out of Harper. Her communicator was broken and Goldenrod was pretty much the most advanced place in Johto technologically, so maybe she was heading to get it fixed. Well, not like Sam would find out by just guessing, so he might as well ask. "Are you heading to get your gizmo fixed?" He asked with a raised brow and a lax smile.

Sam had made his arrival to Goldenrod yesterday and had gotten to spend some fun already in the Game Corner, playing Voltorb Flip and doing some shopping in the Goldenrod Department Store. The problem however was that besides those two places and the Gym, there wasn't much to see or experience, so Sam was rather bored. Thoughts of making his leave today were going through his head, because it wasn't like he had interests in taking the gym right now. Even if Milo, his Skorupi, was a though fighter, tackling a gym with him alone wasn't a good idea.
So, with nothing else to really do, Sam was taking a walk through the streets with Milo resting on his shoulder. Only walking around aimlessly wasn't that fun though, as the city itself wasn't all that interesting to the young man.
At some point he had went ahead and dug up his Pokégear from his pocket, twiddling with whatever settings he could and checking if anyone might've tried to contact him. While doing this, Sam wasn't really paying attention to his surroundings and about to walk right at someone who was crouching. The Skorupi on his shoulder however had noticed this, but was too late to get his trainer's attention and the two humans bumped into each other, while the girl tried to get back to a standing position.
The contact didn't exactly hurt, but wasn't pleasant either. While the girl herself fell down on her ass, Sam rebalanced himself by taking a couple of quick steps back.
Thankfully Milo hadn't fallen off from the trainer's shoulder nor had Sam accidentally dropped the Pokégear when he had gotten bumped into. With the important things in check, the young man was now looking at the blonde girl and her Espeon on the ground.
While the girl herself seemed to be twiddling around with some kind of gizmo, the Espeon spoke up, seemingly communicating it's trainers own words. Maybe the blondie was mute, but this was all speculation and it wasn't like it really mattered. She was apologizing, though even Sam knew that it was both sides fault. Still, not like he was going to admit it. "It's fine. Accidents happen." The trainer said in a lax tone, waving his hands a couple of times from left to right. "Are you fine? Seemed like a rough fall." Sam continued, offering his hand to the girl.

Sam's starter, who makes up for its small size with determination and fighting spirit. [break] Loves his trainer and enjoys all of the attention he gets. Incredibly competitive. A more of a mischievous Pokémon, who has a tendency of doing pranks of some sorts. She's also on the smarter side of the spectrum, so in a way gets along with her trainer. Another Pokémon that receives plenty of affection from Sam, though she seems to be more than a little bit of reluctant in receiving it. Still, a good Pokémon with a soft spot for her trainer.
