He watched her ankle carefully, it was swelling larger and larger by the second and Arceus bless her soul she did everything to take it like a total champ - while Flix, in this situation, would whine and cry. Mostly because when not in a mission, he was a gigantic baby. It was funny, he could fall from a five story window, break both his legs in a mission, but a paper cut while doing paperwork and he would cry and whine for days.
Much man, so grown up; seriously.
He kept still, arms ready to steady her while she wiggled around to check herself. She cried out (not with tears) about how this was the end for her, and although he was upset about the situation, he still smiled at her over reaction - knowing very well that he would do the same thing, but with more whining.
She barely had to finish her last sentence before he scooped her up in his arms in a bridal style. Hold on then! We are going to save your life! With that, he began to run as if he wasn't holding anything at all. The Pokemon Center was in the opposite direction that they were going, past the jewelry shop and he was still going, trying his best to not bounce around too much so he wouldn't hurt her ankle too much.
Once at the center, he kicked the doors open (it was seriously becoming a habit, but this time there was a reason, he had a girl ni his hands and it wasn't just for dramatic effect). Nurse! Code whatever color it is or number for a deadly ankle!
Penny grinned when he just scooped her up like she was thin air. She had seen him carry a lot before, but now that it was her... It seemed infinitely more attractive of a quality, to be honest. She felt her face grow hot at the thoughts that filled her head for a moment, before shaking them free. Yeah right, Flix would never be interested in someone like her.
She laughed as he kicked open the door to the pokemon center and yelled at the nurses, watching as a couple of nurse joy came to check her out and pull her off into another room.
Penny didn't really want to be separated from Flix at the moment, but the nurses seemed adamant that they needed to do their work in private, without interference.
They must have known Flix as a regular, because they looked right at him when they said it. "Ah, actually. I'd be more comfortable if my partner was there." Penny mumbled quietly to one of the Joy's, who wrinkled her nose as if she had just smelled something foul.
"He'll be quiet, I swear. Right, Flix?" Penny looked over at Flix and pouted at him, giving him the same puppy dog eyes that Bruce did when he wanted a treat. So that's where he learned it from.
Yeah he had been here a few times, most pokemon centres of the area knew Flix by now. Either by him visiting them himself, or by him accompanying someone he had brought to get checked out - naturally his own pokemon too. He was loud, and somewhat crazy, but the ladies must know that he meant everything good by it.
Even though the nurses tried separating them, he was adamant about sticking somewhat close by. Even if it was just by wandering closer and closer to them (Matt Damon), no matter how much the nurses tried to push him away.
Penny spoke up about him being around, and he smiled; even if she didn't want him near, the man would have glued his face to the door if given he chance to.
Yep! He wouldn't promise, but he would certainly try to stay quiet. It was better than causing them all stress by wandering around as close as they would let him and keep pushing the boundaries. I mean it would be hard keeping me away anyways... he admitted, the nurses seemed to have seen this coming from previous moments they had with him.
When Flix was allowed beyond the little door barrier that had been separating them, Penelope smiled brightly and flopped down onto the table they provided, popping her leg up as they stripped her from the waist down behind a little curtain and gave her a little blanket to cover herself with.
When the blanket and curtain were pulled back, it revealed a large purple bruise wrapping its way around her entire ankle, swelling, and looking generally hurt. Trying to walk on it seemed like a medical miracle at this point, just furthering the proof that Penny was a trooper when it came to injuries.
"Hey, that looks pretty bad." She mumbled, leaning forward to touch it. Her legs flexed awkwardly at the angle she had to bend to touch it, before wincing when the flesh she poked was gelatinous and sore. "Ouch." She mumbled.
One nurse swatted her hand away from it, before taking a couple of pictures and inserting a pain killer right into the flesh. Penny hissed and sucked in her top lip, pouting at the pain. Needles were one thing she really couldn't stand.
"Jesus, you gonna warn me next time, or just amputate the damn leg?" She snapped at the Joy, who looked up at her, blinking. Penny frowned and slumped back onto the bed, pouting and staring at the wall angrily.
Honestly, Penny was already feeling vulnerable and prodded enough without the feeling of needles being stuck in her skin to numb the area and drain some of the fluid that was building up in the sprained area.
When Flix spoke, she sighed softly and let her head flop to the side while they pumped her up with a bit of morphine to get her to calm down and stop tensing the muscles all over her body.
Her eyeslids fluttered and she rolled her head around, trying to keep her eyes focused on something so they would stop rolling back in her head. "Woah." She thought she had whispered, but by the way the nurses jumped at the word, she knew she had shouted. "Sorry." She said quieter, and one of the nurses just laughed.
Penelope didn't know why the nurse was laughing, but it made her laugh too, bursting out into a fit of uncontrollable giggles that shook her body. They only stopped when she had giggled too much and it turned into coughing.
"Ahhhh, weird." She smacked her lips and looked around the room, as if she oculd magically apparate a bottle of water into her hand. "Accio, agua!" She commanded loudly, holding her hand in the air. When none came, she pouted as if her world had just been destroyed.
"I guess I know for sure I'm not a wizard, now." She flopped back onto the bed again, giving off her best Hagrid voice. "Yer... Yer a wizard, 'arry!" She burst out into giggles again.
The nurses rolled their eyes at her and looked to Flix, raising their eyebrows. "She'll need bedrest. She'll have crutches, and she can probably work, as long as it's desk work and she's not out running around getting herself shot." One of the nurses explained.
"I definitely never want to be shot again!" Penny chirped, laughing at herself. "It hurts, a lot!" She explained, as if it wasn't obviously. "See?" She pulled up her shirt to just below her breast, pointing out a jagged, ripped-up scar where a bullet had obviously enter her body. There were other scars all over her stomach and sides, and most likely her back.
"Yes, Penny. We know. But remember, you told us not to tell anyone." The nurse pulled her shirt back down and glanced to Flix. Penelope shrugged.
"Flix is cool, he's like my closest person. He's my person." Penny give Flix a thumbs up and winked at him.
If there was any way for him to be more uncomfortable, it would be a miracle. It wasn't like he would prefer to be anywhere else than here supporting his teammate, but he was certain Penny wouldn't like being seen in this kid of state. Plus, seeing her all vulnerable and drugged up, it was cute and made him feel more pushed to be the adult here and protect her while she was getting better.
She lifted her shirt and Flix did catch a glimpse of the wound, but because of its location, he immediately turned around (out of respect for sober Penny). A blush appeared on his face for a moment before he put on his big boy pants and listened to the nurses - his big boy pants were demoted the moment he started whining about the paper work until she was to get better.
Maybe she'll let him wander off on small field missions on his own, near by... or maybe he'll sneak off. Who knows! if she was at the head quarters, he could feel comfortable leaving her side. Everyone else would be there to make sure his partner was fine.
A thought did cross his mind however, who shot her and why? Perhaps someday she'll be comfortable to share it, he wouldn't ask while in this state.
So um is it okay for her to go home now or something? His awkwardness was obvious, especially after she had not only lifted her shirt high enough to show more than a mid-drift - but she had called him her closest person. He took that as in partner, friend or something along those lines, but still, he was flattered despite her intoxication. I can take her home and come back for the crutches when she's asleep; or take them with me, depending if she's a wriggler or not.
Penelope tossed her head this way and that, before rolling it all around on the pillow, humming some sort of weird mash-up of a bunch of different songs as the other people in the room spoke aloud about her recovery time.
"If she's good about it, and stays off it for the next couple of weeks, she can be back into working order as early as 14 days, I'd say." One of the Joy's smiled at Flix and patted his arm comfortingly, before looking over to Penny, who was now itching her stomach and rolling around on the bed. Being high really didn't suit her.
By the time she felt settled in the bed, her butt was sticking up in the air, the sheet still covering all the important parts, but not by very much. The Joy's were struggling to keep her covered, but by the end of it all, they had just given up and put her pants back on for her, cutting off one of the legs at the knee so that they would fit over her swollen ankle.
"Awwwwh, Flix..." She tugged on Flix's shirt and looked up at him sadly. "They broke my pants, why did they break my pants?" She looked down at the sliced off pantleg and played with the edge of the freyed area, before taking Flix's hand tightly in her own.
"Sad pant day." She saluted the loss of the pants and flopped back over, still holding onto his hand. "Will you take me home, Flix? I won't squirm I promise." She pouted at him and raised her arm to wrap around him if he chose to pick her up or not.
14 days? that's a really long time to do paperwork... he looked defeated at the thought, ugh, he would definitely, most likely, sneak off to do some field work every now and then instead of being locked up in a room with mountains of paper. Even if it was a super dangerous job, he would take it. Anything was better than that kind of torture. He hung his head and arms for a moment before turning toward Penny again who was flopping about - he was careful to keep his eyes somewhere else other than her until she had pants on.
She took his hand, and immediately red filled his face - with his eyes looking away as if that would hide his blush. I don't know Penny, ask the nurses, maybe they know why. he couldn't come up with any kind of explanation, his head was focused on the hand holding his right now. How tender and soft, damn, he should have moisturized or something before this because his must feel like friggen sandpaper!
It's a sad day for pants everywhere. he pretended to mourn the chopped off pant leg and turned around to ready to carry Penny on his back. Hop on, I'll take you home. He decided to keep the crutches here anyways just in case, he'll be back later to come get them before she wakes up.
Penelope stroked her hand over Flix's again, feeling the rough callouses of working outside and being constantly camping and rough necking it. She smiled and let her head hang back, watching him curiously as he turned around. "You have nice hands. Big." Penny mumbled softly, before moving to sit up. "Rough and manly." She swayed awkwardly as she sat up, eyes rolling back.
A couple of Joy's grabbed her arms to steady her, and hoisted her up onto Flix's back, although it was hard for Penny to hold on, so they had to drag her arms around the front of the taller man and hitch them together, pulling Flix's hands up to hold Penny in place. The way that they helped her loop her legs around him made it so they connected and locked by her feet.
When he went to stand up, though, Penelope nearly fell off straight away, her body finally giving in to the medication they had pumped into her. She flopped back and let her mouth hang open slightly in her sleep, drool building up a little in the corner of her mouth.
"You're going to have to carry her in front of you." One of the nurses said, while the others left the room. "We'll have some pain killers ready when you come back for the crutches." She smiled at Flix, patting his shoulder. "Good luck with her, she's always been a handful."
If his face could get any redder, blood would come out from every orifice on his face like a mini volcano. She spoke of his hands and he had half the mind to hide them, but since he doubted that she would remember any of this, he was just happy to hear her say such things... and try to remember this for a long time to come. At least she saw him as manly! Even if it was just his hands.
He thought she probably wanted to hear the opposite about hers, but he just couldn't come out and say a damn thing.
When she was on his back, he couldn't tell what was going on back there - but when the nurses spoke about him carrying her in the front, the redness in his face stuck around with a vengeance. I guess you're right. His voice shuck just a little bit before he placed he down, turned around and finally scooped her up in his arms again in bridal. This time she was out of it, so he felt a little more awkward about it all, especially by the way she was talking.
Alright, ready to go home? He braved a smile despite him feeling a little light headed from all the blood rushing to it.
Penelope reached out with her arms as he picked her up, wrapping them around his neck loosely. Her eyes fluttered open and shut as her consciousness came and left her just as abruptly. She nodded as best she could, which just made her head fall bad and thunk against his shoulder.
She gave a goofy grin at the feeling of his shoulder behind her head, thinking about how it was pretty large and muscular, not having really given it much thought before now. She had seen him shirtless... Her mind reverted back to that moment and she sighed happily, pressing her cheek into his chest.
"Home now, bedtime. Nappy naps." She sighed softly, snuggling closer to him in his arms. He felt warmer than normal, although she didn't make it a habit of cuddling this close and personal... He did hug her frequently when she would let him.
"Nurse, nurse. Joy." Penny tried to raised her head. "I think my dear Flix has a fever, he's so warm! Can you give him some miracle juice?" She waved a hand absently, gesturing to herself. 'It made me all better, maybe Flix needs some." She nodded.
Nurse Joy just laughed at Penny and went to walk out of the room, leaving them alone. "Wow she just left, just like that. Didn't even say goodbye. What a bitch." Penny stuck her tongue out at nothing in particular, before reaching up and patting Flix's cheeks.
It felt so sweet that she was snuggling up to him, it reminded him of when waking up in the tent with her that morning, she still smelt the same too. But he preferred back then than to now, just a little. At least she wasn't intoxicated then! It felt more honest than what was going on now.
He felt unnaturally nervous when Penny asked the nurse to drug him up too, for whatever reason that Penny had. The last thing he wanted was to start talking about things that he didn't want people to know about! Not to mention to say things that shouldn't be said either to a fellow officer. He didn't mind Penny speaking in this state, but would she mind if he was the same? Would she take it seriously? Or would she take it with a grain of salt as he was.
Keeping her secure in his arms, he started on their journey to her place. He wandered fast enough but not too fast to possibly drop her if things went wrong - and walked up to the door and had to let go of her legs in order to open the door with the key. Once the door was open, he took her again and waddled his way to the bedroom - keeping the door open for now since getting her to bed was a priority.
Home sweet home~ he said while placing her down onto the bed.
Penny couldn't remember the series of clicks and blips that had her winding up in her own bed, snuggling into the sheets as if they were the best feeling sheets in the whole goddamn world. She was so happy that Flix had a key.
Reaching upwards without really opening her eyes, she grabbed Flix's arm and tugged him down onto the bed, pressing her face into his chest and breathing in the scent he normally produced. He always smelled good. Like outdoors, and smoke. It was nice.
After inhaling a decent amount of his scent, she went back to just cuddling him and holding herself as close as she possibly could. Her fingers tightened on the fabric of his shirt and she fell back into sleep quickly enough.
After a few seconds of sleeping, she would wake up, mumble something, and go back to sleep again, like her body was trying to fight her on her needs. 'Mmm, Flix, you're so nice? How am I so lucky to have a nice partner? You're the best. I could just kiss you." Penny squeaked and rolled over in the bed, but pulled his arms around herself, snuggling in tight to him.
"Mm, nice." She mumble before fallign back asleep, hopefully for good this time.
Once she was all settled down, Flix was ready to go and fetch her crutches, and possibly go ahead and head on home himself. She'd sleep off the drugs and wake up, who knows what Flix will do himself, maybe drop by for a quick visit to see if she needed anything - well the last thing he thought would happen was to have her take his arm and drag him down to snuggle!
Obeying her silent demand, he crawled onto the bed, crossing his legs to make himself comfortable. She pressed herself into him, which of course made the ginger smile. He couldn't help but just run his fingers through her hair, hoping that maybe that would soothe her into sleep - and whether it worked or not, she was out.
When she mumbled, he was at a loss of words. Looking away a little, he jotted that up to the drugs pumping through her, she wasn't in her right mind, that's it; and he was just being a good friend by sitting by while she needed the company. You're an awesome partner yourself Penny. he said as gently as possible so that to not wake her up completely from her half sleep state.
A part of him wanted to stay here like this t'ill morning, another thought she would be more comfortable waking up without a just new teammate sitting in her bed. That was a little more personal than a tent and not to mention she herself didn't really invite him in this time in her right mind.
